I dug an old (20 years) 283 out of the closet, and was wondering whether or not I would harm the Cybersync recvr if it happened to be one of the older ones that has the high voltage across the sync contacts...

CyberSyncs can handle voltages up to 300v.

Measure the voltage with a meter between the pins, while it's charging up and while it has full charge.

If it has voltages less than 300v it should be fine.

It is always a good idea to check, however we have users of old model flashes (particularly Vivitars) and i have yet to hear of a Cyber Sync unit getting fried when connedted to one.
