Lights firing on thier own when using the RJ11 indicates to me a likely bad ground situation. I would try removing any power strips or extension cords to rule out a bad component there. I would then try using a different outlet on a different circuit. I would also try the Vagabond II, but start with one light and see how it acts.
An older thread, but I had the same problem, and this was the exactly correct diagnosis. The ground was improper. Fixed that, and the problem disappeared, just in case anyone in the future has the same issue. Mine was a CSR+ on an AB800 with repeated strobe firing anytime I plugged the RJ45 into the AB and CSR+. Was not present using the CSRB+ I have, so it wasn't related to the AB per se. Anyhow, all's well that ends well.
