I just unboxed a brand new Alienbee 800. I assembled per the instructions and the red test button does not trigger the flash. Furthermore, the CyberSync does not fir the flash. When I unplug the telephone jack from the back of the flash unit, the flash triggers. It also triggers when I plug the telephone cable back into the unit. When I unplug the flash unit from the cybersync unit it will fire in slave mode when another light is triggered. I purchased three of these lights. Two work and are triggered just fine by the test button on the back and by the Cyber Commander. This other seems DOA. Any recommendations?

Are you using a Cyber Commander? If not, you should not be using the RJ11 telephone cord, rather you should be using the 1/8 to 1/8 cable. If you are using a CC, it sounds like the light is performing properly, but there is a setting that is keeping it from firing.

Make sure the power slider on the light is set to FULL.

Make sure you have a vertical (blue) bar on the Cyber Commander that correlates to the channel of this reciever.

Make sure the Cyber Commander is set to a channel, or ALL, and not a group (GRP).

Once everything is fully set up, fire the lights from the ALL setting on the Cyber Commander.
