Hello and thanks for the message. I will definitely try that tonight when I get home.

regards,

An older thread, but I had the same problem, and this was the exactly correct diagnosis. The ground was improper. Fixed that, and the problem disappeared, just in case anyone in the future has the same issue. Mine was a CSR+ on an AB800 with repeated strobe firing anytime I plugged the RJ45 into the AB and CSR+. Was not present using the CSRB+ I have, so it wasn't related to the AB per se. Anyhow, all's well that ends well.

the same thing is happening to me as well…I'm extremely upset that this system doesn't work…how can you sell something that doesn't work when you claim it does.

I added the AB 1600 to my setup of 2 AB800's…this time around though…I wanted to use the CSR+ to save money on batteries. I got it all setup, and the unit doesn't fire on command…out of 10 tries pressing the button it fired once, and putting the CC on my camera it NEVER fired…when I use the CSRB on my ab800's everything works fine, adding two ab1600 with the CSR+….the two CSR+ units do nothing most of the time.

I have a shoot tomorrow and I'm SOOOOOOOOOO pissed that I can't do it now because of this…I think I might return all my PCB products and switch to a different company if this is NOT resolved

SMH :(

Plugged in my CSRB+ and everything works fine….so does this mean that I need to have the CSRB+ instead of the A/C modeled CSR+?????

is anyone successfully using the CSR+ with the AB's…..I just REALLY REALLY find it difficult to believe that PCB would not see this in testing and fix the issue….I wanted to be "GREEN" and save money by using the CSR+ but i'm not so sure I can do that…please please help.

THANKS

While it is impossible to have a 100% failure free product of any sort, the CSR+ (as a whole) works as intended and described. There is likely a settings issue somewhere that is causing the problem.

I am not sure what time your shoot is tomorrow, but if you are still having issues, I recommend giving us a call, it is much easier to trouble shoot real time. But I have some quick suggestions. Before I go into specifics, be sure your model lamp buttons are pushed in and the power slider is set to full. Also, make sure the telephone cord is fully inserted in the remote and light. Look very carefully at the channel and frequency dials of the remote. There is a slot cut into the dials, with one end having a deeper cut (which appears darker). This end of the slot will be the indicator end. Make sure the frequency dial is set to the frequency common to all lights, and the channel dial is set to the channel you desire (as long as it is not the same as another light). If these all check out, check the following:

1-Once set up, make sure the channel the CSR+ is on has a blue power bar. If not raise the power. If the power will not raise via the joystick, the unit may be in standby (grayed out power bar, gray dash at the bottom of the graph). Once there is a blue bar, select ALL channels and press in with the right joystick. If all lights fire, verify they will each fire individually. If so, you should be good from this point on.

2-If you are using an extension cord or power strip, there may be a grounding issue that is preventing proper operation. Remove them and plug directly into the wall. If this does not work, the grounding issue may be in the outlet, and you may want to try a different outlet. If the problem is very persistent, you may want to swap the power cord. This is rare, but it can happen.

3- Keeping the power cord and reciver the same, use one of the telephone cords from the other remotes on the suspect light. Use the suspect cord on the other remote/light set up. Does the problem follow the cord or the light/reciever?

4-Keep the power cord, light and telephone cord together and swap recievers. Does the problem follow the reciever?

If you have an specific questions, feel free to ask. If you call tomorrow, you can ask for David, though anyone in sales or technical support can help.

I've done all of the above, and yes there is a blue bar with red....it does fire...but only once every 25 clicks, and NEVER while the CC is mounted to the camera or when the other transmitter is mounted....when I swap the CSR+ with the CSRB+....everything works perfectly...obviously it is a defect on your end because sooooo many people are having the same problem.

Ive tried three power strips...4 wall jacks and a house that was built 1 year ago. I really don't think it's a ground issue at all. If the CSRB+ works fine...why can't the CSR+????

I just want to return the units ASAP...I've rescheduled the shoot for next week.

even if it IS a grounding issue...I can't afford to go to a client's house and have this problem because their place isn't grounded correctly....that makes no sense at all to me. I’m angry, but not at anyone….just at the fact that I had high hopes for this set-up only to be let down. I feel like I just got kicked in the face…lol

You are free to return any item within 60 days of purchase, http://paulcbuff.com/returns.php. You can also place an order for the CSRB+ remotes, and have them cross shipped.

Any specific question about the return process will need to be directed to Customer Service, as they are better suited to assist in that area.
