I was having the same problem and sent the light into PB for Warranty Repair about two weeks ago. I was told by the Repair Department that there has been an issue with particular diodes on the circuit boards and that the diodes were replaced in my unit as part of the repair. I just received the repaired unit from PB, though I have yet to test it. I'll test it as soon as possible and report my findings.

I am having the exact same problem. I recently purchased 3 Einsteins. I have only done 3 shoots with them and on the third shoot, one of them starts failing to fire. The symptoms are identical to those described above.

I switched flash tubes with one of my other units and the one that wasn't working before still is not working. I push the test button on the Cyber Commander and/or the light it self and I get the same result: modeling light dims, flash doesn't fire, modeling light comes back. Every now and then the flash will work but usually only at higher power levels. This is kinda silly... Got any answers Paul C. Buff?

I noticed someone else posted another thread about this but only got one reply for tech support basically saying send it in. I hope you don't expect us to pay shipping to send the unit back after having it for so little time...

Suggestions are welcome. Spend about $3000 on this kit and it is not off to a very good start...

Sorry to be such a downer but thats how I feel.

Take care,

Kyle

upload a video to youtube to show us what you are running into. I haven't run into that kind of issue yet. Make sure all of your firmware is up to date and also change the battery in the cybercommander to rule out any connection issues.

Not sure a video is necessary. It is pretty clear the unit will need to have warranty service. The light is getting the signal to fire, as all of the other functions that occur during a flash pop occur, just not the flash itself. This is indicative of an internal fault.

Oddly, the light that was giving me problems back in January started working fine... I used it as the first light in every setup for months... then one shoot in late May it stopped working... same symptoms as original, everything normal except no flash. Since then it's been working okay as far as I can tell. Nice to see some updates on this, though I'll probably wait to see it misbehave under controlled conditions before sending it in.
