The cord that came with the light is grounded, but it has a female ground. So, only two prongs will be present. The adapter you are using does not have a ground prong, so the grounding is being bypassed. The cord that came with the lights is a type F connection. Physically, they can be used in C or E type connections, but performance may not be optimal, particularly with the C type outlets.

So why would the VAGABOND MINI shutdown?

This is funny. I plugged a 65W Stand Fan using the same ADAPTER on the VAGABOND and it ran without a hitch. Now the joke's on me because my friend is teasing me for buying a VAGABOND just to power up his ELECTRIC FAN. hehehehehe

Anyway, kidding aside, how is this possible? I don't see any rational behind all these. I'd like to be positive and think that this is a SAFETY FEATURE for ALIEN BEES and VAGABOND that without a 3RD Prong, they won't work?

First we need to know what exactly happens when the unit "shuts down"? Are you judging this by LED's going off? If so, which ones? If all LEDs go off when a load is applied, then the battery is probably a bad one.

As for the cable/adapter. You had contacted us via email, phone and forum, and conversed with at least two of us in that time. In those discussions among us here regarding this, there was some confusion. For that, I appologize. The lack of a ground will not shut the Vagabond down entirely. If you had a short, the AC output will terminate, but the lights will stay on.

However, even though the ground pin does not seem to be the problem, we highly recommend a grounded connection be made for safety reasons.

I believe Joe is handling the email side of this and will be discussing the process for correcting the problem with the VML. Also, he will go over the connection issue as well, and how best to make that connection.

Again, sorry for the confusion.

Hi,

Joe has been very helpful. I'm just posting this here in case someone has the same issue and could shed light on the situation.
