Typically, removing the SD card will restart the CC. We are looking into the cause and a solution.

According to one of the manufacturers, users' physically removing a memory card while it is in use is far and away the leading cause of card errors.

Does the Cyber Commander sense the card being ejected before the contacts are broken and immediately suspends all writes? Otherwise this may not be a recommended thing.

One of the bajillion reasons for the hardware OFF switch to be added to the device, IMHO.

Also I appreciate that you are "looking into" this but given how debilitating the problem for one's image appears to be in commercial use, do you have any actual timeline for the fix? Is it on the order of a week, a month or a year?

If the commander is locked up, then the card is likely already corrupted, and a useable CC with a hot ejected card is still better than a non-useable CC with the card inplace.

we are getting this resolved as fast as possible. There is more than one entity involved to correct this, so we do have total control over all parameters. Given this, i cannot speculate on a specific time line. (though i doubt it would be toward the "year" end of the spectrum).

Hi TS,

Are you able to repeat the error with test units? If so, is there a workaround such as 'don't press this in this order' or similar?

Not that I'm in a stress over this but it'd be great to know the root cause of this. It's the engineer in me you see :D

This CC going dead thing bit me today during a very high-end shoot, and it happened in front of the customer. I had to resort to the pocketwizards as I didn't want to wait or do some strange song and dance to hopefully wake it back up. This issue really needs a fix, and I would be happy to best test it.

We are working on this. Again, it is not an entirely in-house thing, but we are doing everything we can to get it resolved ASAP!

Soooo should I go ahead and purchase the CC or wait until the problem is resolve?

Or just purchase the CST?

You could have a CST on camera and a CC in your pocket. Able to control the lights but less weight on the camera.

Yes yes I read that. I'm just saying is the CC worth buying right now since it's not working correctly. Less of a headache to deal with if I do buy it and have it not functioning fully.

On the whole, the CC works quite well. One needs to keep in mind that very little is said from customers who are not having issues. Only those with issues tend to seek guidance in a forum such as this (that is its sole purpose).
