No sarcasm intended. Just wanted to be clear, not just to you but to readers who find this post later. Yes, there is a metal bezel, however, the overall housing is plastic as I understood the original question to ask.

Just to follow up, I have found that my blame on the AB socket may have been premature. Testing with other cabling suggests wiring failure outside the AB. I may have to eat crow on this....
