I have an Einstein version 2 bought in February 2011 and recently bought Einstein in April 2011

fingers are slightly different, why? Both Version 2

And in the February version finger some time move freely regardless of others :?
The April version of the mechanism works softer, levers require less effort

Version 2.1 :?:

I have a v22 640 that shipped in November, 2010 with some notice about the mounting fingers and received extra rubber bands.
I just received a 61" PLM and speed ring.
After reading the installation instructions and doing everything correctly the PLM popped right off several times. I have gone to the off center mounting instead.
Has a better version of gripper fingers been developed and are they covered under the warranty?

Revisons have been made since the "v.2" release. You can contact Customer Service to verify which version you have, and discuss remedy options.

Up until now I was certain I wanted to sell my Alienbees & buy an Einsteins.

Has this issue been resolved on the new units shipping as of today?

The modifiers definately have some wiggle and are a bit loose on the Einsteins. I think they are ok, but you can sure tell the difference.

Funny you say that. My v2's didn't wiggle at all but the replacement v2.1's I just received today seem to 'wiggle' ever so slightly close to the faceplate like you stated. That said, they're holding all my modifiers without the rubber bands and the grip seems very tight so I'm a happy camper. Sure it took a little bit, but these latest E640's rock, IMO.

Thanks Paul/CS for making things right! :D

i just received my 2 einsteins and i definitely noticed some wiggle with the reflectors and PCB speed rings. a little nervous about attaching softboxes. what are these heavy duty elastics. will that help?

A small gap (1/8" or smaller) on softboxes or a wiggle on the reflectors will not result in a softbox or reflector falling off. Also, with the secondary faceplate on Einstein, very little light leakage should result from that gap and will not adversely shooting.
