Yes. The VBII even includes instructions on how to hook up to your car battery. There are lots of threads on the web about building your own portable power system. The important thing is to get an inverter with the right output for your lights. Usually this means a true sign wave inverter sized so that it can handle the flash recycle.

Unfortunately the inverter used in the Vagabond II is what is causing the backorder situation, so if you don't have one all ready you will either need to wait for PCB, Inc to get their restock or find an alternative.

Even more to the point, is the Vagabond II even going to be available anymore or is trying to be replaced with the new mini? Sure has been off the market for a good while now.

Either way, thanks for the update.

My two cents worth is: Luap, take your time and do it right! If it was easy, everybody would be doin' it.

Everything I have purchased from Paul C. Buff Inc. thus far has surpassed expectations. Keep that going, in my opinion, above everything else.

Also keep the outstanding technical service and customer service going. That is a keystone of your success.

I wonder if you could just take the same or an even more powerful inverter like the one in the VBII and just hook it up to your car battery for emergency use, because as of right now...I have lots of photographs to take, but I can't do anything outdoors until this problem is mitigated.

Good question.

Luckily, in my situation, I can afford to wait for Luap to get it right.
