Similar to the Westcott Mesh Nets, you might also find all grades of patio mesh rolls from home stores. The last time I purchased one it wasa roll of about 30" x 25 ft for something like 3 bucks tops. You could easily double or triple up on those to cut the light on the cheap.

I just did a quick check with my light meter and an Einstein at min power 2.5ws at ISO 100 gave an f stop of 1.0 and 3/10 to be exact Iam using a large PCB softbox only 2 ft away. I can't think why you would need less light...what are you shooting?

why not just buy an ac adapter for the sb 900 don't they make them I know canon has them for the 580exII
