To update this thread, I just performed tetrode's adaptation on a Bowens speed ring last night. I started with a cage for the Paul Buff mount. I used a generic $12.00 ring ordered from Amazon...I had to bend the lips a bit at each rod attachment point to match the angle of the mount.

Or it would have worked to lay the Paul Buff speedring rightt on top of the Bowens ring--they mate like it was genetic--and simply bolt them together.

But LUAP, you really ought to consider selling a Bowens PLM cage. The only reason I have S-mount lights is for my foray into video, where I've bought a couple of the new high intensity LED lights that use the S-mount.

I know this is a little late but was wondering if anyone has used this adaptor to connect their PLM with the elichrom speedring and cage to a bowens studio light?

If so, would love to know if this worked for you and if you are satisfied.

The idea behind the speedring cage is to position the light properly in the PLM. This adapter looks to extend the speedring position out from the flash tube.

I would suggest simply using the 8mm shaft version with the Bowens mount light.

Yes, I was wondering if the adapter would impact the projection of the light given it appears to extend the speedring position and "cuff" the flashtube more than usual. Hence my curiosity as to whether anyone has tested these.

I've already got my PLM's (64-inch versions) with the Elinchrom speedring/cage assembly and 7mm shaft as I have the Elinchrom lights as well. My hope was to keep the umbrella properly centered on the Bowens using this adapter.

I was told the 7mm will also work in the Bowens lights?

Yes, the 7mm should work with any flash unit.
