Norm, I think the best thing to do is call Customer Service since this is supposed to be just a technical support forum. That usually seems to be the answer whenever a sales type question is asked.

We wouldn't be able to ship Einsteins to you before your turn. Our 60 days is in place, which you can use. Especially since the Einstein preorder has been placed, we won't frown on it. Please do contact Customer Service for any particular question you may have in regards to this.

More than glad to hear that. I'm looking forward to Ellis' review since he has access to a color meter as well (he's done comparisons w/ the Zeus/Speedo/Dynalite, etc. packs on dpreview).

Looks like Bacilonur (the builder of the NiMH DIY vagabond in a Pelican 1050 case) is lucky #1 :-)

So did they indeed ship from Monday 5th ? Was bacilonur really #1 ?
It's now Thursday...Did bacilonur receive his unit, and if he did, where's the "First impressions" review ?

Sooo many questions !!!

Good luck with the color meter. I have 2 Minoltas, Gossen and Sekonic and they differ by up to 500°K and each varies by up to 200° depending on distance to the flash and brightness level. They are particularly inaccurate a very short flash duration. I rely on actual shots in a huge black box. My cameras, lenses and color patches also have variations of 200°K from one another, from grey patch to grey patch and from aperture setting to aperture setting. In short, you cannot do one test with any commercial color meter or camera/lens and say "the color temperature i XXXX"

Thanks Paul,

You've probably also got more light-meters then just about anyone else, how "accurate", as a general rule, do you find them to be ?

Does there appear to be much variation, either across brands, or up the cost scale ?

Are there any you particularly would (or wouldn't !! ) recommend ?

Not much variation in flash meters - most are with around 2/10f or so. Sekonic, Gossen and Polaris are all OK. We've settled on Sekonic L358s. Now color meters are another matter - even at $1000+ per.

I'm not an "industry leader" but my Einstein is in the mail and should be delivered the middle of next week. I'll be sure to post my first impressions after I've had a chance to play with it.
