Sounds like a battery which has reached the end of its life cycle. A new battery maintained with proper maintenance should solve this issue. Our replacement battery offerings can be found here:http: http://www.alienbees.com/battery.html part number B15A.

Hi,

I accidentally purchased a replacement battery for vagabond II B20a instead of B15a for vagabond 1. Are the batteries interchangeable, if so, I will not bother to return.

Thanks,
Obsidia

Sort of. Provided the proper connecting cables, each style inverter can run from each style battery. However, the connections are different, so there is not a direct connection possible. And the size and shape are different, so it would not fit into the bag the same, if at all (though I haven't tested, you may be able to fit the B20A in the bag with a V150 configuration. It will not fit in a V300 configuration). You can connect them and use outside the bag or in an alternative container, if desired.

That's some fantastic news.

Could you check for me one thing (well two things ;)):
1. Will they recycle normally if set to different power (i.e. full power on one, and half power on the second)
2. Will they run from two sockects or do you have to connect them to one socket through extension cord?

Thank you very much for help :)

Kind regards,

Piotr

Help! My new Vagabond Mini went out on me 2 times in todays shoot! I probably have shot a total of 50 shots with it and an Einstein, nothing over 1/4, mostly 1/32. Now, it went out on me twice and both times, my other colleagues said there's a distinct smell of burnt silicone =\

It works on the third time, but I'm afraid it may die on me again.

Are you running your model lamps? This will drain the battery fast, as well as make it run hot (possibly causing it to shut off). When it heats, especially new, it can have a distinct smell.

Does anyone know the answer to this question? I'm interested as well...especially with the 120V model for the US

I was wondering if the Strobelite 400WS lights can be powered by a Vagabond Mini Lithium. The info on Paul C. Buff's website does explicitly state that the VML is "for operating AC powered studio flash units in the field". My understanding is that current that comes from a pure sine wave inverter & battery like Vagabond Mini Lithium is AC.
