Anyone got any tips on rotating a camera body to shoot in portrait mode through an ABR800 with the sliding dock provided? If I turn the entire assembly, there is tremendous torque on the stand hole, to which I don't want to subject the plastic.

Looking for ideas on what others have tried that's low enough profile that it might allow a D3 to rotate without adding so much height to the base so as to go beyond the reach of the adjustable vertical column on the light.

Thx,
KL

An L bracket would work if you have one.

Here is a link ( http://www.digifotografi.com/Digifotografi/ABR_Quick_Release.html ) to a page on my tutorial site that describes how I use Manfrotto quick release plates with the ABR. Adding an L bracket to the camera makes changing from portrait to horizontal a snap.

It should, as long as it fits your camera and you have the appropriate recievers for it.

I shoot with a 70-200mm lens that has a rotating bracket already on it and it makes a great portrait lens.
