Post subject:  csrb+ and cybercommander issue

strange problem here: I have a B400 & B800 with cybercommander, CST, 1-CSRB, and 2 CSR+'s. All are less than 6 months old. Things were working fine 3 weeks ago when I used them last. Today I setup the system and started having problems.

The problem is that the CST nor the Cybercommander can now trigger either light using the CSR+ receivers on either light. I swapped radios between lights and neither corrected the problem. Changed channels & frequencies with no luck. If I use the CST with a CSRB, the lights will trigger. With either CSR+, they will not trigger by CST nor commander. The test button on either CSR+ will not trigger to fire. The trigger command from CST does cause the CSR+ light to flash in sync but still doesn't fire the light. All plugs are tight.

I have noticed that both commander and CST can trigger the lights only if I unplug the remote cable from the light.

Any suggestions?

It sounds like the CSRB+ is programed from the CC to inactivate the light(s). In this condition they will fire via the sync jack, but not from the RJ11 telephone remote cable.

very interesting. how can I check to verify that? I presume I'm looking for something specific in the settings of the commander? I just wonder how it could have gotten changed since the last usage? It's really strange to me that it occurs on both receivers on both lights at the same time.

also, just an fyi, when the remote cord is plugged in on either light, the "dump" button will not cause a test fire. I'm not sure if it's supposed to or not, but I was trying different things to see if I could get the light to fire because I wasn't sure if it was a problem with the light or the remote, or the commander or what.

This confirms the CC has programmed the light to zero flash power. Pull the RJ11 remote plug and the AB will likely charge to whatever you have set on the back panel, and fire from the test button or from the CST. If so,

check the CC screen for that channel and make sure it indicates the light is showing as active and on.

Specifically, you are looking at the bottom row of dashes. The channel you want to use should have a white dash and not a gray dash. You may also want to check your frequency setting in the Cyber Commander to ensure it matches the recievers.

OK, I checked that. It definitely is not a gray dash. I created a new channel with one of the lights and csr+. I set it up arbitrarily on channel 15 and used a new frequency. I set the commander frequency to this new one, designated the light type, model, wattage, etc. Still will not fire or adjust with remote cable. Unless I imagined this, it seemed that when I would adjust the power UP on that new channel, (which is also set to track model/flash) the light gave a short flash burst but only going up on the flash/model power. Not sure if that means anything.

OK, just for giggles, I changed the batteries in the commander to a used pair and it gave the low battery warning so I changed them again for brand new alkaline ones and there was no warning but the problem is not resolved. The commander is the last piece that I've added to my system and since the problem is effecting both lights and both receivers, I'm suspicious that the problem is with the commander. Any suggestions?

One last thing. You said the dash at the bottom is white, but do you have a blue vertical bar for that channel? If not, try raising the flash power with the left joystick. It may require a moment or two of holding before it shows a response, depending on the current setting.

yes it's blue and changes size with the power adjusted. on the display, everything looks just as it did 3 weeks ago when I used it last.
