Post subject: | White Balance at 1/8 power |
I am using an AlienBees B1600 along with another strobe. I am using the AB to light a piece of white plexiglass from below and the other strobe in a softbox from above. I did a custom white balance to the strobe from above and I am set at 5450K. I had the AB set to 1/8 or 1/16 power and I am finding the that white balance between the two strobes is very different. The AB is giving a yellow cast. The only other information is that I do have the modeling lights on. The Raw converter tells me that I should be at 4500K if I convert the background (Lit by the AB B1600) to white. Does anyone know if there is a color shift when shooting at low power settings or do you think the yellow cast came from the modeling light. (I shot at 1/100 at f/18.) Jerry |

The plexiglass is probably warming the light balance - typical of shooting through most "white" materials. Also, all non-IGBT monolights shift color downward by about 80°K per f stop of power reductions. Includes the most expensive brands. |
