Post subject: | Vagabond Mini - alternate use |
Just wondering if it's OK to use it to charge a 2010 MacBook Pro (only, nothing else) while out on the road? (Cleaner/better power than an AC Car Inverter?) In the same vein - wonder how many full charges it could provide without being used for anything else? (EDIT - ANSWER = ONE! I tried it just for laughs and it went from 100% down to approx. 1/4 power so it would only be useful for just one charge - meaning one would have to be quite desperate) Also, finally, wondering if charging the MBP and popping a couple of B1600s (for instance) at the same time is possible - or not recommended? (Given the above test I'd say NO - don't try it. AFAIK it's just not suited to or designed for any kind of continuous power use really, but it was a nice experiment. ha ha) |

You will get about 110 watt hours from the V-mini, no more than 120W at any given time. I would not recommend using the flashes and running a computer as the inverter will go into a brown out state everytime the flashes fire. While the built in MBP battery and transformer block would likely filter a lot of this out, it is not a chance I would take. Also, your recycle times would increase. Depending on the Wh rating of the battery you are charging, your number of charges per Vmini charge will vary. |
