Post subject:  VagabondII battery(s)??? (Technical Support)

Hi,
I have an opportunity to buy(via auction) a used VBII from a business that sells thier own brand of studio lighting equipment (soup to nuts). I've been to this place of business a few times and noticed the VBII a short while ago during my last visit. I asked how they liked it and was told "not too much at all". I asked what was the matter? I was told the business bought it new and had it in twice for repairs/service. No specifics. I'm not sure how much of the conversation may or not be have "steered" as why one business would promote another's product(s).
Anyhoo-Their auction is coming up and the VBII is a listed item.
If the issue (if there really is an issue) is inverter related or battery related what am I looking at for repair/replacement parts respectively?
I imagine Radio Shack(or alike electronics supply shop) should have a replacement battery here (in Canada) if need be, no?
Thanks,
Paul

Depends on the age of the inverter. If it is under 2 years old, then the inverter will be under warranty, and only shipping charges will apply. According to our repair dept, an out of warranty repair would be $88. This all assumes batteries are out of the equation. Since batteries are warranted differently, you may want to call to our repair department for more specifics.

Its under warranty, if under 2 yrs old, even for a second owner?

Yes, warranties follow the serial number, not the owner. If an item is not serialized, then we cannot really track it. Since the VII is serialized, then teh warranty will follow.

I asked the seller a more specific question(s) about the Vagabond II and his reply was this
" The Vegabond II was in for repair and when they sent it back they
told us that the electronics were revise so that the green charged
indicating light would shut off right away so that it did not drain the
battery if it sat idle for a period of time. They felt that this was a
problem if it was not used a lot. I think we have rented it twice in 2 years
so that is why we are selling it. I have tested it and appears to be working
ok."
Could you explain what the "electronics were revise" part is about?
Thanks,

Paul

Previously, the green LED would come on and stay on, indicating a full (or somewhat full) charge on the battery. Later versions had the indicator go off to avoid the slow drain on the battery. This is a minor change, and would not affect the usage in anyway, other than the visual indicator of the solid green light when powered off. Powered on, the green light indicates the rough charge status. I cannot tell with this information if the unit was modified or replaced for that characteristic. Sorry for the delayed response.
