New firmware for Einstein is available at the link below. It updates the following from version 22: •Updates E640 for compatibility with Pocket Wizard Power MC2 remote (coming soon) •With the Cyber Commander™, when the Einstein™ is not in a selected group, the new firmware turns off its modeling lamp and disables the sync jack and slave eye http://www.paulcbuff.com/pcb2009/e640firmware.html Please discuss this update in this thread. We do not know any exact or estimated dates for the Power MC2. You will need to contact Pocket Wizard for that information. |

What does it mean if I get the fan to spin up and then it shuts back down when I insert the power cord? |

Does the slave eye still default to enabled, requiring direct intervention to disable. Seems like you are resolving a few user's issues every week by telling them the slave eye is on, so that is why all their lights keep firing, etc. A firmware fix seems welcome all around on this issue. Basically, when I plug my CSXCV into the E640, seems it could be smart enough to disable the slave eye. (as the AB's do when you plug a trigger in). No trigger plugged in, slave eye on. |

If you are using a Mac, be sure to follow the Mac instructions that require you to reinstall the firmware after each attempt. Is this the first head you have attempted on this version? Are you running PC or Mac? How many lights are you updating? |

(I don't have it readily available to look at.) I'm running PC and I have just the one light and this is the first attempt. |

I believe the smallest SDHC card is 2GB, but I may be wrong. Make sure the card is formatted to FAT (not FAT32), and make sure nothing else is on the card. PCBUFF>EINSTEIN>CONFIGS-FIRMWARE-LOAD should be the only folders, and there should be one copy of the ...26.hex files in each the load and firmware folders. |

It's definitely a normal SD, not SDHC card. Verified that it is FAT16 formatted. Verified the files were in the place. There are actually 2 "fan ramp-ups" followed by nothing. Also, in the "factory use only" section there is the "bootload" menu option that does show the file on the card. |

In that screen, since you found it, can you use the up/down arrows to highlight the file (in black) and press the "test" button? This should start the update process, in a manual roundabout way. |

Doing that I don't get any flashing back screen after selecting it. The light reboots, still says v.22 but one of the hex files is deleted from the card. |
