Post subject:  Alien Bee Modeling Lamps

Greetings I'm new to the forum, so I'd like to quickly apologize if the topic has been covered; however I searched and couldn't find an answer already posted on the boards.

Nevertheless, regarding the modeling lamps on the Alien Bee units. The modeling lamps are regular household tungsten bulbs. I am being told that restrictions are being placed on these types of bulbs to the point they will no longer be available in the coming years in an effort to force a change to more efficient bulbs (i.e. Compact florescent bulbs.) Since The CF bulbs won't work with dimmer switches, is there any suggestions for replacements?

The lights used now are specialty 150W bulbs (Edison base). My understanding is the 40-100W are the ones targeted in particular (as they are not typically used in household lighting). Thusly, they should continue to be available in the future. As well, there seems to be some pushback on the legislation that is banning the tungsten lights. These predictions may change.
