Bought this x32oo unit back in 1999. Have had no real problems. still have original flash tubes w/ maybe 300 pops to it. After pulling it out of the closet, put a shoot through umbrella on it - popped maybe 4 times and overheat tone comes on and won't go off, even after shutting down for an hour.. The fan did not engage at any time. Any Idea what is going on???

thanks
Russ

How long has it been sitting in the closet unused? Flash units have to be operated at least once a year or so to keep the capacitors "formed". If it sat for years the caps may be shot. Check with tech help.

The alarm is an error alarm, which could mean overheat, but not necessarily. I would not expect the fan to kick on after 4 shots. The problem could be a misseated flash tube, or a different power outlet could help. If not, then it is likely something internal and would need to come in. If you attempt to fire the light again to trouble shoot, start at the low power setting and fire of a series of shots and work your way up in power.
