Besides a T-arm, you could attach the second light to the center column of the stand with a super clamp (which would keep the weight in close to the center line of the stand) or just use two stands right next to each other.

Westcott makes a strong, inexpensive, counter-weighted boom arm - it's $86.49 on B&H. It mounts to the shaft of a heavy-duty light stand and leaves the top mounting stud open. That way you could configure 2 lights in the horizontal or vertical axis or anywhere in-between.

A "T"- topped stand would work, and could be made youself with little effort. A flat piece of steel with three holes, a couple of 5/8 spigots and a 1/4-20 nut and washer. Super Clamps are also a good choice in that they can be utilized in so many other ways.

However, overpowering the sun is more than just how much flash power is available. With the right modifiers (PLM, HOBD, 22RLR, 11LTR, etc.) and at the right distance, the sun can be easily overpowered by one E640 at 1/4 power. While it will not fix every situation, it is something to keep in mind while you try to find a solution.

Thanks, perhaps I'll do that, DIY T-arm.

About "OPTS" (overpower the sun)

Tried PLM 86 Silver, Einstein - full power, 10-foot distance, f20, the sun with a few clouds - the results are not impressed

but what happens when the sun is no clouds in the picture or backlight?

the sun can kill only phosphoric military stun grenades?

this test photos (just a BBQ with friends)

After a review of Einstein, PLM, VB Mini on my blog, some studio equipment dealers in Moscow, asked not to write more about the PCB products

How much overpowering do you want? Adding one E640 will yeild one stop (actually that may vary lower, depending on how it is modified. Example, sharing one PLM between two lights would not yeild the same focusing efficiency of one). Also, what ISO are you working with?

That's to be expected . . . photo dealers here hate us too because they can't sell our products. They attack me on forums, lie about me, defame me and get me banned from forums.

Also, recent information suggests the Russian government no longer allows residents to personally import products such as ours . . . protecting the stores and dealer network I suppose. Very bad isolationist move.

Means you're invent and selling THE RIGHT STUFF, Paul!

Today I deleted 30 comments in my blog: "Chinese junk" "Customers will flee when he saw the inscription "Paul C Buff" on your photographic equipment " etc.

Not isolation, there is a banal theft in the russian post, but I and my friends bought your products through intermediaries or friends in the U.S.
Your products do not steal, because their value is not understood by thieves

Competition is not always fair, and who can he lobbied their interests and protect your business by any means, fortunately this is less true to the photo-equipment

I have tried to negotiate with a large retail photo store network in Moscow, but it profitable to buy a $ 100 chinese sleaze and sell it at $ 500 or buy $5k-10k top brand lighting equipment and sell at $ 10k-20k :?
