Having gone through 2) CR2450 batts in a CST in a couple of months has caused me to search out different types of batts. Read this as cheaper batt sources!

In looking for different sources I found out that there is a rechargeable system which uses LIR2450 lithium batteries.

The cost is a little more then two of the CR2450's and includes a charger and two of the LIR2450.

When the CR2450 goes dead the CST starts doing very bad things like trying to make your Einstein into a stroboscopic disco light. It also locks it out of the CyberCommander. You have to unplug it from the wall and then plug it back in to re-establish communication.

So any reason LIR2450 batteries won't work?

Do you know the actual voltage of that rechargeable battery? AA's, for example are 1.2V on the rechargeable side, but 1.5V on the alkaline side. The system that uses the rechargeables may only require 2.5V, in which case a lower voltage battery will work. Additionally, many rechargeable batteries will self discharge faster than alkaline or lithium, requiring a charge for every shoot (or at least very often). If you know the voltage of the new batteries was 3VDC and they were drained rapidly (just because they are new in a package does not mean they are good), there may be a need for warranty service on the CST.

Good point. I'll find out what the voltage is first.
