Have a need for a replacement modeling bulb and the BBA-1 isn't easy to find since our local photoshops have closed. I thought I could use a regular 100 or 200 watt bulb but no joy, the necks are too short for them to screw into the head.

Can I use something like a generic hardware store "Bulbrite Q250FR/EDT 120-Volt Halogen, Medium E26 Bulb, Frosted, 250-Watt lamp" in place of the BBA-1 without an issue?

Tia.

That bulb should be fine. However, for the standard bulbs, you may find pulling the metal tab in the base of the socket out a little will help with contact. Be sure you unplug the light first :) We don't need a model for the next Einstien ad.

E26 is a European socket. Almost the same as US E27 base but may not fit far enough into the socket. There are plenty of 250Q E27 base lamps, including on our website and B&H, etc.
