I just received two Einsteins and cyber commander with today. One of the lights will not test or fire, but the modeling light works. On my cyber commander there is a little yellow line above the green line and below the power level indicator. I have read the manual but it only talks about a green line, a white line, and a grey dot in this area. Does anyone know what this line means as this is only on the light that will not fire. Please help!

The yellow dashes are your meter indicators. If tghe light is not firing, it will show. Vey low on the graph. First thing to check is will the Einstein fire fron its own test button, with the transciever removed. This will help isolate where the problem is.

Nope, it will not test fire with the transciever removed. :( I just got them yesterday. Do you think it might be the bulb or the light itself? How do I tell if it's not the bulb. I think the yellow line was telling me that it wasn't firing. I reloaded the lights from studio back into my CC and the yellow line is not there anymore, but it still won't test fire or fire from the CC.

Thanks,
Rebecca

Until the light works from its own test button without a reciever, I would suggest not worring about what appears on the Cyber Commander for that light. The CC assumes the light is functioning and is feeding back some confusion. Yes, it could be a tube. By swapping tubes with the working head would make that conclusion. Before you do that, make sure the current tube is fully seated in the head by pressing on it to ensure it does not move. Also, are you getting a green light on the ready window on the light? You should be. Other than checking for the ready light, this should all be done with the light unplugged, and after it has set for 15-20 minutes.

Yes, I'm getting a ready light. I have made sure the tube was fully seated. I will switch the tubes today to see if the light works with the other tube and get back to you. Thanks.

I put the other light tube in the flash and it still would not test fire without the transceiver. Put the light tube back in the other light and it works.

did you try the "not working" tube in the working flash?

No. This tube seems very sketchy compared to the other one. The bottom prong moves around a lot and it's really hard to put back in. I don't get a very good vibe from it, and I don't want to put it in the good light. Something tells me not to. I know that the one tube works on the good light and the bad light will not fire with the good tube in it. That tells me there is something wrong with that light.

If the light is not working with the good tube, the whole unit should be replaced. Contact customer service in the morning to get that process started. Or you can email anytime, but reference this thread so they do not repeat the same troubleshooting.
