I'm guessing you mean watt-seconds (Ws) rather than watts? If so, then 320 Ws per the AB800 page: http://www.paulcbuff.com/b800.php.

The thing is, Ws is not a great way to compare lights, especially across brands. Ws is a measure of the energy stored in the capacitors and available to the flash tube - not a measurement of light intensity from the tube. It can be more useful to compare f-stop at a defined distance with a common modifier..... http://www.paulcbuff.com/output.php.

Hi sir,

The reason for asking you this question is that we are planning to buy a portable generator for our lights. And I need to be sure how many WATTS not W/sec an AB800 has so that we can buy the right kind of generator.

thanks

Ooops, wrong assumption on my part. The common advice is to size the generator at 1000 watts per flash that you will be running. Also make sure you are using a generator with a pure sine wave output.

I already scouted for the supplier and they have a PURE SINEWAVE OUTPUT generator. All I need is to choose how much WATT power.
