Just received my new Cyber Commander and have been through the manual several times. I have everything working but every time I wake it up it comes up with a screen that says "Cannot read SD card". I can move off the screen and use it normally but it is really a pain to have to switch screens everytime I wake it up. I have formated the card in the cyber commander and I am able to save settings to it. What can I do to stop this screen from popping up?

Try formatting it in a computer, preferably a PC. Format to "FAT" a.k.a. FAT16. Formatting to FAT in a Mac will format to FAT32 which will not work. If you have done this, and continue to experience problems, please let us know. Also, until a solution is found, the CyberCommander can be used without the card, limited only to two internal save locations.

I was about to post concerning the exact same issue when I saw this thread.

I received my Cyber Commander today and also get the "Cannot read SD card". I tried formatting with the CC itself, then on a PC in FAT. I still get the error message when I power up the CC.

If you want me to test something else, I'm available.

Thanks

Patrick

Since you have formatted on a PC since trying in the Cyber Commander, try formatting in the CC again.

I put the SD into the CC immediately after formatting from the PC.

I get the "Cannot read SD card"

I format the card from the CC. The CC reboots and there's no error message. I can save to the SD using the "Save as" menu.

The CC powers itself down after 20 secs.

On wake-up, I get the message "Cannot read SD card"

I pull the SD from the CC and put it in the PC.

I can see 2 files in the PCBUFF\CCMDF\CONFIGS directory:
SD000001.SAV and SD-DATA.HEX, both of them are 1KB in size.

If I put the SD back in the CC, I still get the error message.

If I pull the batteries from the CC and put them back in, on first boot, I don't get the error message, but I get it on each wake-up after.

Seems like on cold boot, the CC sees the SD correctly, but on wake-up, it doesn't.

Anything else I can test?

Patrick

Oh, and I don't want to hijack TracyMc thread. Maybe he could tell us if he sees the same behavior on his CyberCommander. If not, I'll start a new thread or email tech support directly.

They are related closely enough, I would not consider it hijacking. We are looking into this, so please bear with us, and thank you for your feedback.

I received my Einsteins and CyberCommander 2 days ago and have the exact same problem. Would it make sense to buy a third party SD (they're cheap enough) and try to format that or wait until you have done some further research? Thanks.

TS- Can you just ship them out already formatted until you find a solution? I'm a mac user and i just order mine today.

Is the SD card just for storing settings or firmware updates?

You can if you wish, however we are looking into the problem deeper, and once we find a solution, we will gladly correct the problem for you. The card is only necessary for saving set ups and firmware updates. Otherwise, the CC is fully functional, but limited to 2 SD save locations.
