Post subject:  Einstiens to go?

Hello all.... My first post here. I just ordered 4 Einstiens for use in a home studio and on location. I need to get a case of some kind for travel. I'm thinking something like a pelican case for the lights, reflectors, power cords, Vagabond mini and Cyber Commander & recievers & trigger. Travel w/ all this will be local and via car. Rather than trying to get all 4 lights in one case I'm thinking of splitting up into 2... Just so it doesn't weight a TON... and there will be instances where I don't need all four lights on location. Stands and softboxes will be stored in another bag.

Just wondering what has worked for you!?

Steve

PS... Can't WAIT to get my PCB gear. Should be here Friday!

What a coincidence that you just posted this. I just picked up a case for two lights. Only $19.99 8-) I will upgrade to a Pelican when I get more lights.

I bought mine locally at Harbor Freight.... with a $5 coupon. They are 20% right now if you order online... but then you have shipping. If you get one, refer to my pic for layout as it's the only way they will fit.... and the lid still be able to close. It works nicely as they are secured tightly with foam all around. Can't beat the price.

I just got a Think Tank Photo Airport Security 2.0. It's a rolling suitcase type bag, small enough to carry-on domestically. They have larger bags too since you don't plan to fly.

I have put two Einsteins, a VML with charger and spare battery, 2 speedlites and their external battery packs in it, and still have lots of room. The interior is very customizable and I think you could fit 4 PCB lights and probably a VML or two also.

This is an expensive bag but its quality is exceptional and I'm really glad I bought it.

ImageX....

Man that's cool. And after what I just spent at PCB and B&H on studio gear, a $20 case sounds pretty sweet right now compared to a couple of $200 Pelicans. This is something that looks like it will work just fine for now. For $20 I'll buy a third to carry reflectors, power cords Vagabonds etc. I think you just saved me a bunch of $$$!

Thank you sir!

Itwimberly...

I hadn't thought about a Think Tank for this application. I have the original Airport Security and absolutely love it! Built like a tank (so to speak)... Plenty of room for my 500mm, a couple of bodies, several other lenses, chargers and misc. stuff. I hadn't been on thier web site in quite a while and didn't realize they made an even bigger bag these days... The "Logistics Manager" I guess it's called. This would certainly be something to look into for more air travel as I already know how their products perform.

Thank you guys for your thoughts and suggestions!

Steve

ImageX...

One more question. Did you get the foam insert at Harbor Freight as well? Looking at the link, it didn't appear that the foam came with that case.

Thanks, ImageX! That looks pretty cool, and a search for that item on Amazon came up with some similar options, too.

The Zeikos 36 medium hard case looks similar, too. Plus it seems like there are only 36,000 options to look thru at amazon!!

No problem, guys. The foam does come with the Harbor freight case. It also has the organizer on the lid and the dividers... neither which I use. You might though.

I got one of these cases as ImageX has several years ago from Lowe's for $20 or so, and it included the foam. Something tells me it no longer has the foam, but worth a look if Harbor Freight is not close by.
