trying to get this straight...looking at the provided images (for 86" PLMs)... an extreme silver PLM with white diffuser attached loses about 1.2 stops (f/8.8 x-s to f/16 ss) to the soft silver of same size and power level. also the x-silver w/white diffuser also warms up a bit and adds small bit of G tint where as soft silver remains neutral. what i can't see by the brick wall images is shadow edge transitions. i have all three sizes of x-silver (with diffusers) and am interested in the new soft silvers. |

It does feather more than the extreme. The tightness of the beam is still smaller than a white or (silver + WFDF). |
