Post subject:  Vagabond Mini Shipping Cover: Recommendations?
I've just purchased 3 minis that I intend to transport/ship in a Tenba Air Case. The Minis will sit in their normal position in the case (vertical - switch up) in the Air Case. This leaves me room in the case to place gear on top of the minis. My issue is: I don't want the Minis' power switch to accidentally get tripped "On" while in transit.

Questions:
1) I'm looking for some type of "shipping cover" to cover the top faceplate of the Minis while in transit to prevent the power switch from accidentally being tripped "On" and draining the batteries while in transit. Something like a low profile Sto-fen that fits over the cover of the faceplate would be ideal.

2) How do other people transport Minis in a shipping case with other gear?

An I dea I have been toying with is using two safety plugs for the ac outlets. Between them , run a strip of plastic on the lower side, perhaps built up with foam. This will help keep the power switch from flipping up on the low side.

If you just remove the batteries from the case when packing, won't that mean you don't need to worry about the switch at all?

I don't have one (yet!) so I'm probably missing some bit of info

Silly me, I hadn't even thought of that. :shock:

I guess because the case I'm using (a Tenba Air Case) doesn't have dividers for lots of small kit, I overlooked that. I'll have to see if I can somehow pack the Minis with their batteries removed.

I just took a look at Mini carrying case offered by PCB. It does not look like it would prevent a bump that would hit the rocker switch, but it does look like it might need to be a pretty big bump. And it does have a slot for an extra battery that could be used simply to stash the single battery instead, out of the main housing.

Clearly the bagged vagabond will take more space, but it would also need less extra padding in the larger case....

There doesn't seem to be a perfect solution, though.

Perhaps on Version 2 the switch can have a cover (or maybe change to a toggle switch with one of those red flip covers for when you really want to be certain you are going "guns hot" :D )

Remember, this is an "Air" case, implying flight. You cannot check a VML battery unless it is installed in the device itself. You can check it on, however. The power switch is one that is not easily bumped into a different postition.
