PW posted the following on their website: "Note: With the exception of Speedlights, flashes need to dump or charge their capacitors when the power level is changed." Doesn't the IGBT circuitry in the Einstein have the same characteristics as a speedlight, thereby obviating the need to dump/charge after power changes? |

I own alien bee, white lightning as well as Einstein's, all of them will self drain to the correct level if you turn them down but it may take a few seconds to do so. I always dump when I change settings, takes a fraction of the time and just to be sure... |

Because Einstein has constant color mode and controlled flash durations in Action Mode it does have to dump, but it dumps very rapidly. Speedlights don't dump because they are always in "action mode", with wild swings in color temperature in manual adjustment mode. For the same reasons, Broncolor Grafit, Scoro etc have to dump. |
