Post subject: | Hints on cutting gels for an ABR800 ring light? |
I need a CTO gel for my ABR800 tomorrow (today + 1). Normally I'd order the ABR800 gel set but Buff, Inc. wants $46 to overnight a set of $30 gels! I can't swing that for a single gel. Does anyone have experience cutting gels for the ABR800 from 8x10 gel sheets? Can the ABR800 be used as a template with an Exacto knife? Does anyone have the dimensions of the gel rings that I can layout on a gel sheet and then cut with an Exacto knife? Any hints/tips/techniques greatly appreciated. |

I will get some exact measurements, but there is nothing saying the outside has to be a circle, even though that is how we have them cut. As long as the lens is not obstructed, and the flash is fully covered, then you will be fine. It will probably be easier to have excess and tape it down than try to cut exactly the size and shape. |
