| Post subject: | Einstein Fuses |
I was looking at the spare fuse that is with each Einstein I bought, and was thinking about people who have had fuses blow without a good explanation, and thought it might be a good idea to have a few spares on hand. So, with minimal information, I did a little research. Since I am ordering a bunch of other electrical components (other job), I wanted to add fuses to the order. The spare fuse I have is a Littlefuse 373 Series TR5® Subminiature Fuse, 8A 250v. According to its data sheet, this is described as a fast acting fuse. Although it appears to be quite slow, time wise. The slow acting fuse is the 383 series. Could something have become mixed up or have I found the wrong thing? |

Android, The Type 373 fuse is the correct fuse for the Einstein. The time delay fuse will of course work, but is not required because the Einstein does not contain a power transformer that will exhibit very high inrush current when the power is applied. In my experience, when the Einstein's fuse blows, it is because there is something amiss: a flash tube insulator not correctly replaced, or a damaged or defective component, for example. It is human nature to replace a blown fuse, and there is a very small chance that some transient event has caused the fuse to blow, but if the second fuse blows, it's time to return the unit for some TLC. |
