| Post subject: | best settings on Einstein for HSS |
What would be the best settings on an Einstein to do high speed syncing. Or in other words what settings give me the longest and flash duration with the flattest curve. I assume that I would have to use full power because with in color and sports mode it will somehow cut off the flash, thus shortening the flash duration. |

First, HSS is not available with Einstein. HyperSync, however is. There is a difference. HyperSync is best used at full power. Color or action does not matter at full, as there is not IGBT cutoff in either case, either will be identical in every way. Even with it at full power, your results will vary depending on camera make, model, age, and shutter speed setting. |

thanks, yes that's what I was assuming. I did some tests and it was interesting to see that 1/8000 sec did not produce the most even lighting across frame. I would have assumed that using the shortest shutter speed would also result in the shortest overall time the shutter is open. But it seems on my Nikon D3 1/2000 produced a more even lighting across frame. Is there any thought about adding some form of High speed syncing mode to the Einstein? Where it keeps firing tiny flashes at such a high frequency that it effectively becomes a continuous light. Just like the SB-800/900 does? |

We have given it some thought. However, at this time, it was deemed impractical if not impossible. |
