Post subject:  Modeling Light Always On

So I've been testing my new Einstein and noticed the modeling light is always on when my PocketWizards are used. I have it set to off and the indicators to sound only with no light indicator. I've even tried it with no indicators at all, but it's still on.
Does anyone have any tricks to turning it off without updating the firmware on the PocketWizard MC2?
I don't mind it so much when it's plugged into a socket. But when I'm on my Vagabond for power and using Hypersync at full power, I only get a few pops before the battery is toast from the 250 Watt modeling light being on constantly.
Thanks for the help.

There is a model lamp control check box in the transmitting device that needs to be unchecked in the PW utility.

Got it.

Maybe in a future tweak between Buff and PocketWizard, there could be an override feature so you don't have to update the firmware each time you switch between Vagabond and outlet power.

Thanks again.

You are not updating firmware, you are changing a setting which requires connection to a computer, which is a function of the Pocket Wizard system, of which we have no design input. Our product, Cyber Commander, allows you to change the settings from its controls without the need for a computer. However, on the Pocket Wizard, you can also set C1 and C2 so that one has model lamp control and one does not.

There was a PW bug that kept turning on the modeling light, but that has been fixed with the most recent firmware. As TS said, just setup C1 and C2 where one has the ML turned on, and the other has it turned off.
