I know this sounds pretty lame, but are there any issues having a Vagabond mini powered by the a Vagabond II.

Initially:

AC -> Vagabond II -> Vagabond Mini

Then on the road or anyplace where there is no AC:

Vagabond II -> Vagabond Mini

So when I go portable as the total capacity draws down, I will be able to detach the drained cells and become lighter. Sort of like multistage rockets, as the fuel is depleted you ditch the stage.

I know initially, I don't have to serial the recharge from the AC wall outlet, but let's pretend there is only a single outlet available so I can't parallel charge the Vagas.

Also I know, why not just use the Vagabond II till it's drained then use the Vagabond Mini at that point. There's also the case where I drain the Vagabond Mini and then use a Vagabond II to partial charge the Mini so then I have two portable still.

Yeah, I know the Vagabond Mini is not out. I pre-ordered two of them and was wondering if this is feasible before I blow anything up.

Maybe Laup, tech support or someone with first hand experience with the Vagabond Mini tech will have a definitive answer to this lame question.

Thanks,

Domobat

Domobat,
Why not just use the VII until it dies then switch to the Mini? You can then jettison the VII and save weight. I'm sure that would be more efficient than taking 12V, inverting it to 120V, converting it down to 12V then inverting it to 120V again.

I would suggest extra batteries for the Mini. The battery capacity of Mini almost the same as V2, but they are small and weigh 2lbs as opposed to the 15lbs or so for V2 SLA battery. It would take almost the entire output capacity of V2 to charge a Mini battery. We are working on a padded case to hold Mini and spare batteries.

Any chance of retrofitting Lithiums to a V2, or making an interface module that would support them?
