Can I trigger my olympus epl-2 with the cyber commander? Or do I need a hotshoe to protect the camera from high voltage?

I think you mean "Can I safely trigger a Cyber Commander with my Olympus EPL-2"? It is a subtle, but significant, difference as either is a more-or-less valid question.

The answer to the question I think you are asking is yes. The Cyber Commander can be used safely on the hotshoe of any camera without risk of damaging the circuitry of either device. In fact, all of our current products can be used without any voltage buffering device on any camera.
