Thought I would test out my Canon G12 with the Cyber Commander for an alternative way of shooting the AB800's. No joy . It will fire a Canon 580EX II without any problem but does not seem to trigger my strobes. I have tried both the Cyber Commander as well as the Transmitter. Anyone else try this? What have been your results? |

FWIW, folks in the flickr strobist forum have used the CST w/ the Canon Gxx cameras and reported high sync speeds...not sure what the issue is w/ yours though... |

Maybe my settings are wrong for shooting with the camera body. I set it to the same as my Canon 7D - ISO 100, Manual, F 8.0, 1/250 |

This will force the foot down incase it is not making contact. |

Also, turn live view off and use the viewfinder to see if this makes a difference. It can on Canon DSLR's. Also try toggling the flash mode to/from manual and auto. |

I'll give your suggestion a try to see if it is a contact problem. |

There may be a menu option to allow LCD screen to be used. |

technical support nailed it. i've had the g12 and used the cybercommander with it and ran into the same hiccup: live view settings in the menu disable firing a flash at the same time. In the canon 5d2 and 50d you have to turn off silent shoot in the menu so that the flash will fire normally. also: make sure you are not in continuous mode shooting as this will disable your hotshoe when using a canon point and shoot with an external hot shoe. |
