The 150w will result in less heat, which will improve useability in some heat critical applications.

I've got 250W modeling lights. I definitely need them to be turned on - at least the ones of the main light(s) - but I rarely use them at full power.

TS, can you please specify what kind of temperature readings are okay in the diagnostic screen for a longer period of time?

Regards,
Michael

You will need to check with customer service for those.

The model lamp will shut off when teh Lamp temp reaches 85C.

That just answered my question on why my modeling lamp kept shutting off the other day. Had the lamp on full power inside the largest PB softbox for an approximately 50" shoot. Reason was softbox was very close to client so it was set at its lowest output, but I needed more light than the modeling lamp on track was putting out to keep the black of the eye closed down a bit.

Just out of curiosity, how do the 150w lamps fare with the VML (if at all)?

The VML consists of a 120W inverter, so it still cant run at full power (the inverter will reduce voltage). This will also slow down recycle times, and certainly reduce battery life dramatically.
