Hi,
I just received my first Einstein flash. Everything works fine but there is kind of a "buzzing" sound coming from the modeling lamp as long as it is turned on. As soon as I turn off the modeling lamp the fan is all there is to hear. Is that okay? I'm from Germany using 220V.

That is not uncommon, particularly if the lamp is dialed down. Regular incadescent lights will do this in the home too if on a dimmer switch.

Thanks for the fast reply! I'm currently using Aurora Fusion Flashes and their modeling lamps do not produce any noise. So I was just wondering if everything is okay with the Einstein.

Michael and PCB Tech -- I just noticed the same buzzing noise from the modeling lamp on my Einstein640 as well. I just brought it over from the U.S. (120v/60hz to Germany 220v/50hz) but don't remember it making any noise like this before in the states. The buzzing is consistent from minimal to full power.

I was wondering if the bulb needs to be changed because of the power difference?
(I've learned by popping a couple 110v house bulbs accidentally into my 220v sockets!)
The buzzing just doesn't sound good and is a bit annoying without some music on in the studio.

PS: I'm SO happy the Einstein640 is designed to be internationally friendly, with 95 to 265 VAC power and the 2.4ghz wireless CyberSync/CyberCommander system! =)

There is no need to change bulbs due to mains voltage. This is automatically regulated in the light.

It's likely the lamps will buzz more at 230V because the amount of dimming is much greater due to the bulb receiving pulsed 230V instead of pulsed 120V.
