I love my Einstein and been able to convince a friend to get it as well.

Anyway, I still have a problem or sort when my Einstein is attached to a big modifier such as the PCB large softbox or the PCB 47" Octabox. My problem is basically when I try to swivel/tilt the strobe upward or downward. I tried not to hold the modifier since it might break the holding fingers of the strobe.

Since it has no handle, where you can hold the strobe from diving forward when you are loosening the swivel ratchet handle, what's the best way to do this?

Thanks,

Leo

While waiting for a "commercial" solution, a large Phillips screwdriver in the umbrella tube works very well:

Thank you for the suggestion. It's a good idea.

This handle is pretty simple. I had some stainless 3/8 rod that I lathed down to fit the 'brella clearance, cut a slight detent and threaded the end 3/8-16 for the knob. You can find the knob at McMaster-Carr ( http://www.mcmaster.com/#control-handles/=c9xkgj)

Paul, not sure how strong the umbrella rod slot is but you should make an optional "handle" that connects securely for handling larger modifiers. It would be pretty simple I think and a big help. Good ideas from the posters above.

The umbrella tube holds an 86" PLM, which is in a similar weight range to a large softbox.

The screwdriver solution is practical and cheap for most users. For gigantic very heavy softboxes there is always going to be a lot of stress on any light, so the best solution is probably a third party solution that places the softbox itself on the stand/swivel in some fashion similar to that described in this link

Unfortunately, we do no make this sort of hardware.
