Post subject:  Issues with Cyber Commander and AB800

Greetings all,

Was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction about the Cyber Commander firmware v32. I've got CSRB+ attached to 2 - AB800 and 1 AB400.

One AB800 is Main L (channel 1). Another AB800 is Back R (channel 2) and the AB400 is BG R (channel 3). Frequency set to 7 on CSRB+ and Cyber Commander.

Open Memory: STUDIO

Light Settings:
Model mode - Track.
Power - On
Recycle Indicator - Both (even though I don't hear anything)

Spec Lights: AB800 or 400 and modeling lamp 150W.

When I go to the flash screen, some times I'm able to trigger the flash by pressing the right or left button and sometimes I'm not. When I can't trigger the flash, I see a thin yellow line below the bar. You don't see it until you move the green cursor away.

So my question is, why is this happening? After it's unable to trigger the flash, it won't trigger it at all and I have to unplug everything, pull batteries, reformat the micro SD card and start over. That only works for a flash or two then it won't trigger the flash anymore.

I've got a shoot coming up and didn't think it would give me this much trouble. I wanted to use the CC but it looks like I won't be able to.

I'm a pretty techincal guy but this has me stumped.

What am I doing wrong? Help please?

I am having identical issues. Recently upgraded firmware to latest rev on my Cybercommander. Using with AB800s and CSRB+. Have had it happen last two times, only on one light though. Trying to now figure out if it repeats by trying to track receiver or light as being a cause as it has happened when I am using two or more lights. Again, exact same symptoms. Does reset itself though once things are powered down for a bit (30 mins. plus).

Also need to add that in my case, when my receiver/light froze, I ended up unplugging the one receiver on light that didn't work and relied on optical slave to fire it and used manual slider to get me through the shoot. Worked fine. Using Cyber Commander handheld and firing lights with CST on camera. I will also had that I never had a problem before code upgrade, but after code upgrade it is also first time I am using the full functionality via phone cable, and not just synch cord with manual adjusts. Hope I am not hi-jacking, but our situations sound close to identical.

I haven't upgraded my firmware but was thinking of doing it in the hopes that it would fix it but if you have the latest firmware then I'm not even going to bother until someone tells us what's happening.

Do update your firmware. You may also want to try changing frequencies. To the OP, rather than the reset routine you have, try removing power and reapplying power to the reciever (i.e. pull a battery or pull the power cord).

I had a recent shoot and one of my lights stopped firing. Turned out to be a dead pair of AAs' in that light's CSRB+.

Just my 2¢

RMS, I am going to replace cells, as I just got a "Low Battery" indicator from what may have been that CSRB+. Need to rule that out. Thanks....that may be what it was as I never had a problem before and getting the low battery warning just after two outings of having issues may explain it.

So I took the suggestions given to me when I called PCB up and it seems to work. :)

I updated the firmware and changed the frequency to 13 and I'm triggering the AB consistently.

I wasn't worried about my batteries because they were fresh batteries.

Thanks everyone. :)
