I recently bought a 86 inch soft silver PLM to use on location and have been getting some beautiful skin tones on Nikon. I wondered if there was any advice on optimum working distance from a subject? My practice with a softbox is to position it as close as possible to the subject, generally just out of frame. But given the nature of the PLM, is there such a thing as too close?

Not really. But you'll have to dial the power down quite low.

No problem with power, I'm using speedlights and an Elinchrom Quadra both of which will power down low enough. I did some work yesterday with the subject practically inside the PLM. This is a very interesting modifier.
