Post subject:  Cyber Commander not firing on Canon EOS 3 camera.

Hi,

I can't seem to get my Canon EOS 3 to fire the Cyber Commander using the hot shoe. The hot shoe works fine for my Speedlite and the Cyber Commander works fine if I use it on my digital Canon bodies. But, I can only get it to work by using the PC cord from the EOS 3 body to the Cyber Commander.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
K

The only thing i can think of is some minor variation in the EOS3's hotshoe that prevents the contact from aligning. Are you able to use a non dedicated flash in its hotshoe (like a Vivitar 283 or even a Pocket Wizard or CST)?

Unfortunately I don't have another flash to test with. But I suspect you are correct. When I put the CC on my digi bodies or even my RB67 film body, if the strobe is powered on, it causes it to fire while the metal contacts are sliding into place. On the EOS 3, the strobes don't fire, so contact must not be occuring.

Must just be a wonky sized hot shoe....Maybe I can bend it into shape. ;)

So I took a pair of pliers to the hot shoe and "adjusted" it a little. Seems to work fine now with the Cyber Commander. The Speedlite is a bit snug now, but still works as well.

Thanks for the idea...
