Ideally like Profotos Magnum reflector.. It's a parabolic reflector and the flashtube would need to be totally inside the reflector. |

The 11 long throw reflector looks closest to the Magnum except it seems to have a narrower angle. I was looking at that as well after watching the MJS CreativeLive session. If you could find a reflective metallic spray, that might also give the same effect? |

Our 8.5HOR is smaller in diameter, but similar in beam spread and "output". It also has a texture to it. Alternatively, the 11LTR is narrower in beam spread, has a smooth finish, and has a much higher "output". Either can be gridded if desired. We do not have any new reflectors in the works at this time, to my knowledge. |

The Elinchrom Maxilite at 16" in diameter and 45-degrees dispersion is very Magnum-like (13-1/2", 50-degrees) and can easily be adapted for use on the Einstein: ![]() The Elinchrom mount is attached to the reflector with three rivets. Drill out the rivets and the mount comes off. An AB adapter from Jerry Kacey can then be bolted to the rear of the Maxilite once three appropriately placed holes have been drilled in it. I was able to locate an automotive machine shop willing to cut down the diameter of the Kacey adapter so that it could be attached from inside the Maxilite. Outside or inside doesn't really matter. The Einstein's flashtube winds up properly positioned inside the Maxilite: ![]() ![]() As an added bonus, if you drill a 3/8" hole in the Kacey adapter aligned with the Einstein's umbrella tube, a BD-type deflector can be used to modify the light produced by the reflector: ![]() I should add that a grid is available for the Maxilite from Honeygrids though getting one that fit properly was an issue for me: ![]() Dave F. |

Nice, that hammered finish is what I am looking for. I have an 8.5HOR which has a slight texture to it. I would be using it to light only with the feathered edge (turn the light off-axis) and the character of the magnum's interior is really nice for that. |

Curious what it looks like... Sorry, but I don't. There are a few Elinchrom users over on POTN who are using the Maxilite with either a solid or translucent deflector to good effect. I would expect the Maxilite + solid deflector to perform much like a scaled down Mola Setti. A translucent deflector plus sock also seems to work quite well. Dave F. |
