I was in an event shooting and I put my camera down but my Einstein was being triggered by those pocket cameras even cel phones! Anyone experience this? I had to turn OFF the Einstein because it was firing every 2 seconds. I had the strobe set to Ch1 should I change it to a higher channel that way it would not be as common as channel 1? Thanks in advance.

Most likely your slave eye was on, especially considering pocket cameras were triggering the light.

Hi Guys! Just used our Alienbee B800 and Einstein setup for the first time. We noticed right away that it was being triggered by other camera's also. Didn't want to start the thread and found this.

For the einstein it was easy to fix. We turned off the Slave Eye Status. But for the Alienbee B800 it was different. How can I turn off the slave status? (Obviously i researched again how to do this, and its by using the sync cord, not the remote RJ11) <-- correct me if i am wrong

But when i did this, attached to the CSRB AC, the unit fired with less light, maybe its just our settings.

I tried changing frequency and channels throughout the night with the B800 and its a hit and miss. We just had to deal with it and turn it off whenever a nearby camera is firing or their flash firing.

What is the optimum frequency settings for both units that i have to avoid any more interference? Should I keep using the RJ11 with the B800?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Are you using a Cyber Commander? If not, then you should not use the RJ11 connection. If so, then you will need to continue using the RJ11 connection to maintain remote power control.

If you are using the CC, then it does sound like the settings in the CyberCommander were reducing the light output. If the CC set that light at full, it sould be the same power as without the RJ11 or dummy plug installed. You may also need to check that the power slider on the Bee was set to full. If you are not using the CC, then power control slider will be overridden by the settings currently in the CSR. This could be a higher or lower setting.

There is no optimum frequency. Should there be interference, it is as likely on one frequency as any other. If changing frequencies (by 3-4 steps, at least) does not resolve the problem, there may be something afoot that is not frequency related.
