Could someone recommend some sources for a high quality muslin background? I would like a 10 x 20. Nothing that is thin, since these don't seem to give me true black, when I do low key lighting.

Welcome to the board. While we do appreciate our customers' participation, I would like to offer a friendly reminder that this board is specifically for technical discussions of Paul C. Tech, I disagree. Nothing wrong with asking about things like this if it will help other shooters.

By the way, Luap is Paul (C. Buff). He is the one who posted the polls as well as some other posts that may not directly be equipment related. Otherwise, I have tried to be as fair as possible in moderating the forum. I have allowed topics regarding items that do directly interface with our lights, though they may not be our products. There is a lot of gray area, so please do not think you were singled out for any reason.

But, Paul has blessed this type of post, so any comments are welcome.

Also, in retrospect, there is a potential technical solution I can offer. While there are low/no reflection black backgrounds available, even a gray background (even a white background) can be turned gray with the correct light/subject/background placement. At a given light to subject distance, the further the BG is behind the subject, the darker it will appear. At a given subject to BG distance, the closer the lights are, the darker the BG appears. Also, placing or flagging the lights so that they do not hit the background will help.

I searched the forums a bit, and found your name. Thanks, Paul. I noticed others (recent posts, too) that have asked questions that overlap equipment use (such as the Pocket wizards with ABees) and other forum members have been allowed to offer recommendations/help. Another thing I saw was several polls and most have nothing to do with PCB products, though they are interesting to read. As I said, I'll abide by the rules, but it wouldn't it be fair if the rules apply equally to all?

All I ask is stay respectful, try to help each other and don't go promoting or knocking other brands of equipments or each other, arguing and all that stuff that happens on other forums. I try not to sweat the small stuff.

I didn't catch the humorous dyslexia on Paul's user name. That was an embarrassing bit of ignorance on my part. :oops: I will always be respectful. I'm sure I don't have nearly as much PCB gear as others on this board, but I have half a dozen lights, as many softboxes and stands. All of it is PCB. Plus, I'm always thinking of more ways to expand. Thanks again. :D
