I have had this Einstein unit for over a year now and it has been working great, but yesterday on a shoot it worked for about 10 flashes and suddenly just stopped firing. I tried using the test button but nothing happens other then the ready beep. In the diagnostic menu the CAP PWN doesn't change like it normally would when the flash triggers and it recharges.

After about 30 min it seems to fire again, I tested the unit again today and it again worked for a while and stops firing again. And I was monitoring the temperature and it only went to about 40degrees when the problem reoccurred.

I have checked the placement of the flashtube and reinserted it, there are no crack or damage to the flashtube and the legs are all seated properly.

Does it seem like an exhausted flashtube? Also why is the Australia distributor price so ridiculously high, a replacement tube with US PCB is $35 where AUS is $78 when the exchange rate is around 1:1 that is over 100% more.

Which temperature was 40C and what were the other temps? Are you using your modeling lamps, and if so, did they go off when the unit quit firing? Can you hear the fan?

No, it does not sound like a bad flash tube.

Essentially, it is the added cost of doing buisness. Here is a link that breaks it down. http://paulcbuff.com/faq.php#international
