Assuming you do not have a telephone cable plugged into the "remote" port on the light; first, make sure the white model lamp button is on (depressed) on the back of the light.
If the light does not come on, try screwing the light in to ensure it is not loose. If it is tight, replace the bulb with another bulb you have ensured is working. Any household lamp will work for the purposes of trouble shooting, though you do not want to regularly use a flourescent bulb as a model lamp.
If a known good bulb does not work, unplug the light from the AC power source and let it sit for about 15 minutes remove the model lamp. Inside, you will see a metal tab in the base of the socket. Pull up on that tab (i.e. pull toward you). Install the model lamp, plug the light in and see if the model lamp works then.
If not, the light may need to come in. If you are using a telephone cord, then there is possibly a remote setting causing the problem.
